Teaching English in Harbin, China

Klover Asia– Harbin English Teaching Workshop January 2016

Klover Asia conducted a week-long English Workshop for students from various High Schools in Harbin. These students would be sitting for the entrance examination to enter prospective universities in Singapore.

Students were immersed in rigorous and varied activities in English Language Learning. These involved the four pillars of language learning – reading, writing, listening and speaking. Opportunities were given to students to write reflective, expository, discursive and argumentative essays, coupled with the tasks set for grammar and vocabulary.

Various teaching methodologies and approaches were employed to keep students engaged and enthused. Students were given opportunities to even prepare speeches and participate in debates. All of them learned the fundamentals of Reading for Contextual Clues, using affixes to infer meanings of words as well as the structure and format of writing persuasive essays. In the end, the workshop was a meaningful and memorable experience for all as improvement was seen in all areas of language learning.
