Mentoring and Coaching Workshop for Key Personnel of Temasek Junior College

“Leaders should influence others in such a way that it builds people up, encourages and edifies them so they can duplicate this attitude in others.” ― Bob Goshen

Klover Asia conducted a Mentoring and Coaching workshop for Temasek Junior College (TJC) on Wednesday 25 January 2017, a part of efforts by the school leadership to cultivate the mentoring and coaching culture within the organisation. With a specialisation in mentoring and coaching, Klover Asia was well placed to deliver and to meet the needs of the school. We conducted a 3-hours workshop that was attended by key personnel (KPs) who will be responsible for developing and shaping the school culture in the aftermath.

The session provided the 39 KPs from different departments with an overview of mentoring and coaching, its importance and role in the larger context and environment, and introduced key points in the mentoring and coaching process to them, such as, identifying and agreeing on the purpose(s) and the desired outcome(s) in the mentor-mentee or coach-coachee relationships. The instructor Dr. Justina Tan actively shared real-life examples from her research work in these areas to better illustrate the points being raised and she also encouraged the participants to draw on their own experiences during group activities and discussions to promote collaborative learning.

As the School Staff Developer (SSD) Ms Joanne Tay concluded, the session “gave us much food for thought(.) We will take it back in our discussions… Thanks for sharing your experience with us(.)”
