Klover Asia Enters New Frontiers

"Interprofessional Education occurs when two or more professions learn with, from and about each other to improve collaboration and the quality of care" - CAIPE (Centre for the Advancement of Interprofessional Education), 2002

Leveraging on our expertise in Mentoring and Coaching, Klover Asia expanded beyond the education industry and ventured into the exciting medical field. Partnering with a leading Women's and Children's hospital, we devised a customised mentoring and coaching programme as a part of the hospital's Inter-Professional Education (IPE) programme on the prevention and the management of Venous Thromboembolism (VTE).

The pilot programme involved 33 mentors and mentees comprising doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and pharmacists and saw Klover Asia conducting a training workshop for the mentors in preparation for their mentoring roles. This included equipping mentors with the necessary mentoring tools and coaching them on conduct of the mentoring conversation.

A pre-mentoring briefing was also conducted by Klover Asia for the mentees to prepare them on their expected involvement. In addition, Klover Asia designed the set of templates and documents for mentors' and mentees' use during the subsequent face-to-face mentoring sessions.

The entire project took place over the course of three months, from November 2017 to January 2018, and concluded with post-mentoring debrief sessions which saw both mentors and mentees sharing encouraging results and feedback that included raised awareness of the different roles various healthcare professionals play in VTE prevention and management, a better understanding of the rationale behind what is done for patients on the part of mentees and enhanced patient safety through the sharing of common baseline knowledge.

Klover Asia is immensely proud to be a part of the project and to contribute towards the advancement of better patient care!
